Hepatitis B Vaccines; Efficacy and Necessity of Booster Immunizations

چکیده

Most hepatitis B (HB) vaccines are based on recombinant major S protein produced and purified from yeast. To decrease the number of vaccinations, several combination vaccines have been developed, and are commonly used for infant [1-3]. These include HB combined with diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis, and inactivated poliovirus vaccine (DTaP–IPV–HB vaccine); combined hepatitis A and HB vaccine; and combined HB-Hemophilus influenza type b (Hib)-conjugated vaccine. HB vaccine is recommended for all infants, all children aged < 19 years who were not previously vaccinated, hemodialysis patients, susceptible sexual partners of HB surface antigen (HBsAg)positive individuals, healthcare professionals, patients with HIV, men who have sex with men, and intravenous drug users. In 2013, HB vaccination was recommended for all healthcare professionals [4].

STUDIES ON HEPATITIS B VACCINES

HBs vaccines were prepared by three different methods: 1) Heat inactivation (Krugman, et.al 1971)2) Ammonium sulphate precipitation followed by column chromatography (Sephadex G-200) 3) PEG-6000 (polyethylene glycol) precipitation followed by column chromatography using Sephadex G-200. Their efficacy was studied in guinea pigs, and the results compared with commercial Japanese vaccine (Gr...

هپاتیت ویروسی و پیشگیری از آن وضعیت موجود با نگاهی به آینده

Viral hepatitis is the most common cause of liver disease in the world. In the past 30 years, highly effective vaccines have become available for two of the five hepatitis viruses, and where implemented, vaccination has become a key component of hepatitis prevention. To provide a current review and critical analysis of the viral hepatitis, A (HAV) and B (HBV) prevention by immunization has be...

A Single Center Analysis of the Positivity of Hepatitis B Antibody after Neonatal Vaccination Program in Korea

The antibody to hepatitis B surface antigen (anti-HBs) seropositivity rate after 3 doses of hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccination during infancy period is known to be higher than 90%. However, a considerable number of vaccines do not form protective anti-HBs or chronologic decrease of anti-HBs. We retrospectively collected data of HBV serologic test results in 20,738 individuals from 2000 to 2015...

Combination of an antiviral drug and immunomodulation against hepadnaviral infection in the woodchuck model.

The essential role of multispecific immune responses for the control of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection implies the need of multimodal therapeutic strategies for chronic HBV infection, including antiviral chemotherapy and immunomodulation. This hypothesis was tested in the woodchuck model by a combination of lamivudine pretreatment and subsequent immunizations of woodchucks chronically infect...

Meningococcal outer membrane vesicle vaccine given intranasally can induce immunological memory and booster responses without evidence of tolerance.

We have studied the ability of outer membrane vesicle (OMV) vaccines from Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B to induce vaccine-specific antibody and spleen cell proliferative responses in mice after being administered intranasally (i.n.) and/or subcutaneously (s.c.). A series of four weekly i.n. doses (25 microg) without adjuvant or a single s.c. dose (2.5 microg) with aluminum hydroxide was fo...
